FASHION PHONETICS

Taking in my daily does of style whilst surfing Elleuk.com, the only home to Elle magazine, I came across fashion phonetics, lol, and I absolutely loved reading through the names of designers that I had previously not dare say out loud for the fear of been shunned by the fashion crowd for pronouncing it completely wrong. I'm going to take you through some of my favourites and bare with me as I think its utterly genius and will probably go over board on the old fashion terms. Thank you Elle, you've just helped me feel that little bit better when trying to talk fashion to someone who blatantly knows a lot more than me.

Dries van Noten: dreese van know-ton

I HEART TAVI

So, London fashion Week crammed in the usual gossip, the designers, who went to what show, which collection shone, but every now and again a certain name came up. Tavi Gevinson, the 12 year old blogger from USA whose blog, Style Rookie, gets a reported 4 million viewers a day! Sorry, could that really be true? I think I'm on like 2, and they're probably me and my mother (which reminds me I have to start updating this thing daily if I actually want readership).

Anyway, so I checked out Style Rookie and this girl is seriously talented for a 12 year old. Her style is amazing. No wonder Dasha Zhukova chose her for the front cover of pop. Tavi is officially the princess of blogging.

My BF worked LFW this year and she quietly informed me that Tavi was denied a pass to a certain show by the bouncers because she was too young! Hello, this girl graced the cover of Pop magazine, how can she be too young to watch a group of scarily beautiful models walk up and down a catwalk. Anyway, I thought I'd add some of Tavi's quirky outfit choices. It seems that the fashion crowd were all clamouring for a photograph with the talented one.

OMG!

So I get back home yesterday from another day at my humdrum job as a battery chicken (other words, working in a call centre) and what do I see but an email from a well know fashion magazine. Only offering me 4 weeks work experience at their magazine, assisting the fashion team. I thought I was actually going to combust with excitement. Only trouble is, its in one months time in London, I have no suitable attire and I have no where to live. Sod the small details, all I can think off now is that I've finally got a chance to strut my stuff at a fashion glossy and let them see what I do best...time for a new pen and pad I feel. You know, just like starting back at school every year where I'd pay a trip to WH Smiths and get all new stationary, only for it all to go missing two days later.

Hope you don't mind but my next few posts will be about what outfits I'm taking and what I'm planning on doing through my time in the big smoke. One step closer to taking the step from 'former student now funding her shopping habit working in a dead end job' to 'complete fashionista'.

MARKUS LUPER

I stumbled across these cute jumpers from German designer, Markus Lupfer, whilst snooping around http://www.mywardrobe.com/, when I should have been writing. I love the detailing, with the oversized fit contrasting against the feminine design of the edgy skull print. Only trouble is I don't know which one to choose?
Also loving Lupfers Autumn 09/10 Collection with my favourite designs above, what you think?

OUTFITS FROM NYFW

I thought I'd look further than the usual star spotting consumed at New York Fashion Week (you know, who sat on the front row, what was Eva Mendes wearing, who was Lindsay Lohan arguing with?) and concentrate on these little beauties that captured my attention on the wonderful site that is whowhatwear.com.

First up is the gorgeous New York socialite Olivia Palermo in her boyish blazer teamed with canary yellow sandals. I actually couldn't believe when I read these sky scrapers were from no other than high street store Zara! At last, something of Olivias that's attainable!

I'm also loving Georgia Jagger right now, how cute does she look in the this exaggerated power shoulder leopard print jacket (Vivienne Westwood for those who are wondering). I like how she's kept the rest of the outfit simple in black, only highlighting her lips (family trademark may I add) with a slick of red lip stain. Terribly rock and roll Darling!
Lastly, model Poppy Delevingne has kept things looking chic, channeling that off duty look with her open toes shoe boots and leather studded waistcoat over a washed tee.

VINTAGE DELI-GHT!

My BF (best friend not boyfriend!) told me about a great site her friend has recently opened, Vintage Deli and I thought I better do my bit for a fellow vintage extrodinaire and promote this gorgeous little creation. Actually 'little' is probably the wrong word to use because I predict big things for these girls, BIG!
I love the photography and the whole style of the site...I especially love the free postage :) Anything to save a bit of money (and then to go spend it on another vintage treasure)...see what you think and pay the site a visit

LILY'S JEWELLERY

So when I heard about Lily designing a range of jewellery I felt a little let down. She joined the ranks of Jordan and Collen Rooney and with her recent hip joining with Mossy and an ever expanding Chanel wardrobe, I thought Lily had made it as a fully fledged rockstar (or respectful popstar at least!)
However, after reading her interview with Vogue.com where she explains "When I first agreed to design the collection, I was in New York and I went straight out and bought about 40 reference books for inspiration. I got really involved," I decided to cut her some slack and see the pieces myself.
I love them! I am actually please to say my judgement (just this time mind!) was wrong...especially loving the pink flamingo necklace. Makes me want to wear a hula skirt and drink from a coconut somehow...

PROMOTING LFW

With all the job hunting and interview preparing I've being doing lately, this blog has got seriously behind. I thought I better snap to it and start making this page something it originally started out been. A hotspot for fashionistas!
So with LFW officially underway, I thought Id share these specially designed posters to celebrate 25 years at London Fashion Week. My favourite has to be Barbara Hulanicki design, with her wimsicle design. Which one takes your fancy?
