EMMA WATSON IN THE WRONG KARL LAGERFELD CREATION

Last night saw the National Movie Awards hosted in London last night, with Emma Watson stepping out in a Karl Lagerfeld white and black playsuit. I think Emma is a definite rising star in the world of fashion with her contracts with Burberry and her stand-out red carpet moment at last months MET Gala in New York, in a white one-shouldered Burberry gown. The star was on hand to collect the Special Recognition Award for Harry Potter. The playsuit was from Karl's spring/summer 2010 collection with a mid-drift baring cut out design. At first I wasn't sure about the look on Emma, I think maybe she needed to do something a little more directional with her hair and make-up. When I was looking through the Lagerfeld collection, I came across this dress which I think would have made a better statement than the playsuit. The metallic detailing on the shoulders would have looked fabulous.

TO BANG OR NOT TO BANG

Sienna Miller showed off her new hair cut last night, at friend Matthew Williamson's launch of Belvedere’s new vodka, hosted by the designer at his Bruton Road store. I'm unsure whether I like this look, I'm sure it will grow on me, pretty much like every Sienna look does. The red lips and gold metallic draped dress worked well together with wedge shoe boots and that gorgeous ox-red doctors bag. Sienna is back in the public eye again after being reunited with love, Jude Law and I for one, am more than happy to be bombarded with Sienna pictures in the press, simply because I was a huge fan back in 2005 and an even bigger fan five years on. What do you think of Sienna's new bangs?

WHAT THE ELLE GIRLS WEAR TO WORK

Through the powers of the web and of course, Elleuk.com, I took some time to look into what the girls at the forefront of trend setting, the ELLE girls, wear to work. I knew they'd be stylish but I didn't realise just how casual their wardrobes would be. I've interned at various magazines and days on end I'd spot girl walking to work in trainers, yet their first step in the office would be taken in a wedge ankle boot, preferably an Louboutin. The over all look was very Alexander Wang with utility pants and off the shoulder jersey tops. On the other hand Burberry took its place with fur trimmed aviator jackets, worn over a denim skirt and super high buckled boots.

I've picked out my favourite pieces to get the ELLE look....see what you think.
1. Oversized Long Tee £25 Topshop 2. Leather Satchel £70 ASOS 3. Buckel 70's Sandal £110 French Connection 4. Feather Print Wrap £220 Winter Kate (My-Wardrobe) 5. Silk Parka £1,145 Stella McCartney
6. Utility Skinny Trousers £45 Warehouse

ANOTHER HIT FROM CANNES

I haven't got any tattoos and don't plan to get any in the near future, but don't get me wrong, I think some can look great with the right style, such as Nicole Richies ankle bracelet or Rihanna's gun on the side of her breast. But Cheryl Cole's tattoo look chavy, cheap and classless. It ruins the whole fashion forward look shes tried her hardest to create. Cheryl, out of all her band mates, looks the most polished (although I'm a massive Nicola Roberts fan since she embraced her natural colouring and played it up to her advantage) but her Cannes wardrobe has been slightly hit and miss. I hated her over the top Robert Cavalli mermaid gown she wore but this Versace strappy dress looks fab. Except of course for that god dam tattoo on her thigh!

Cheryl's day look is one of my favourite with a lace, Breton top (hope the high street do something similar, I need this top!) teamed with a trilby, cut offs and the gorgeous Miu Miu tote from next seasons Fall collection. How cute are those dotty platforms? Only a smidgen of tattoo can be seen here but I'm still not happy.

Another look that I loved at Cannes was Kirsten Dunst in this turquoise gown, which I think is vintage, just because of the colour and cut. I love the mid-calf length, although on some people this can make the legs look stumpy. The colour works well with Kristen's light skin tone and the red lips are a fab contrast. It's very Cameron Diaz styled by Rachel Zoe. The only thing I would have changed are the over done eyes, with the copper eyeshadow making Kristen look tired.

My favourite Cannes look today (I know I said yesterday it was Kate Beckinsale, but I didn't see this picture) is from the gorgeous French actress, Melanie Laurent, in this floor length polka dot layered dress at the Dior Dinner on Friday. I love this design and it manages to look young yet elegant all at the same time.

IF YOU LOVE ME...THEN BUY ME!

I started to clear out my never ending wardrobe today and came across items that, although I love, I no longer need. So what better way to raise some much needed cash than to sell them on here. Most of the items I will be selling are either high street or vintage with the odd designer piece thrown in for good measure. I will post out the very next day, first class and you can expect only the best from I HEART FASHION...if you love it, buy it!

So this is how it works....I will place the item online with a price attached. The first person to email me @ victoriajackson1@hotmail.com will be the winning bidder. Simple really. And to stop confusion, if you bid just out of time, I will get in contact straight away to break the bad news but also to offer something similar or something that may wet your style taste buds even more. I aim to please so feel free to ask any questions or comment below on the pieces. I will post overseas and charge a standard £5 postage and packaging. For fellow UK fashionistas, I charge a fabulous standard £2.50 P&P so get shopping! Expect new items weekly, or even daily.
First up is this gorgeous long-line silk nude blazer from H&M, which has never been worn and still has the £34.99 price ticket attached. As you can see from SJP and Whitney Port, a nude blazer is a staple in this seasons wardrobe, teamed with white and black for a chic look. This blazer is priced at £20.00 (excluding P&P at £2.50) and will be posted out first class the next day, or after receiving payment through. It is sized at a 10 but will fit an 8 loosely for that boyfriend, casual look or a 12 for a more tailored fit. Do not hesitate to email me over any questions and I will get back to you asap. Happy Bidding!

A SUPRISE FROM KATE IN BALMAIN

One look that seems to have missed the fashion packs eye from Kate Beckinsale in Balmain. This has to be my favourite look from Cannes, simply because I didn't expect it, which is always a good thing in my eyes. I love the studded belt and although black sequins could be a little heavy for the sun filled south of France I think Kate carries this thigh split gown of perfectly. Her loose ponytail and super high YSL shoes make this look elegant yet uber trendy. Very French Vogue.

CAREYS STYLE STAMP ON CANNES

Cannes Film Festival has come to a close and I though what better way to celebrate it in all it’s fabulousness is to look back over the past week and see some of the gorgeous creations that have graced the red carpet.
The opening of the festival is usually low key, with stars preferring to wear items from designers resort collections or Spring/Summer designs. This year Vogue sweetheart, Carey Mulligan, sported a gorgeous print dress from designer choice of the moment, Prada. This dress belongs to the beautiful Print Collection, a single dress with over 50 print designs. I think this look is classic and elegant and works even better with Carey’s ‘Mia Farrow’ inspired crop.

Carey also wowed the crowds later with an origami, folded dress design by Roland Mouret, teamed with Fendi shoes. Carey seems to have that natural, niave quality to her style that the fashion-pack has quickly picked up on. Aside from her MET Gala disaster (which is mentioned in a recent article) in Miu Miu, her recent style has definitely been something to write home about. Rumour has it Carey was styled by the one and only Anna Wintour for various events and seems to be getting more fashion lead by the day.

On the premier of Carey’s new film, Wall Street, Carey wore a stunning, custom-made creation by Azzaro with a cute, 20’s style waved hairstyle. The actress was accompanied to the premier with actor boyfriend, Shia LaBeouf, who also stars in the film set to be release later this year.

FOR A MINUTE THERE I THOUGHT IT WAS LARA STONE...

How utterly divine does Kate Moss look on the cover of French Vogue in her gold vintage bikini and 1940's style hair? She looks very curvy in this editorial, with the common pose throughout of leg crossed over and laid down. Kate looks elegant, like a screen siren of the past. The shoot was styled by the wonderfully talented Emmanuelle Alt and shot by photographer, Mario Sorrenti.

I HEART DANNY ROBERTS

Illustrator Danny Roberts has an unbelievable talent for capturing a personality through the medium of pen and paper. His work is admired globally with a mix of vibrancy captured with watercolours and chalk and cartoon, yet life-like, features of the fashion pack. Danny’s work has captured models, bloggers and celebrities alike, with people queuing to have their face expressively drawn and by the artist.

For the ‘it kids’ of today, and I mean the bloggers amongst you, Igor and Andre will already be a well-known site but for those that are unfamiliar, this blog is a pit stop for Danny’s work, between thought and canvas, with new illustrations uploaded daily.
If you can’t get your hands on an original Danny Roberts, thanks to Border and Frontiers who have created this ‘Girls in Glasses’ tee. As you can see it’s already popular with the fashion pack. When you see a girl from Elle wearing your design, you know you may be about to hit the big time.

In recent times there has been a return to illustration in fashion editorials, as a replacement and sometimes accompaniment to beautifully shot photography. I would love to have my portrait drawn by the talented Mr Roberts, although I have a feeling I might be on the end of a very long waiting list.

I want/need/heart this t-shirt...see how the fashion pack love the 'Girls in Glasses' tee.

TOO MUCH SUGAR

John Galiano showcased his Christian Dior resort collection in Shanghai yesterday and apart from the odd dress, two of my favourites shown below, the overall collection was a sweet but sickly mess. To be honest, I though it looked cheap and although through the power of photography, it's difficult to see the workmanship that has gone into creating the garments, for me the overall look was inconsistent (Sugar coloured ball gown dresses next to Inspector Morse style jackets and a leather short suit). I usually love Galiano's work, although I sometimes feel that his own collections starts to drift into his work for Dior. When I spotted this pink, ruffled floor length gown my first reaction was, is that girl actually a model? And secondly, it reminded me of a Cupcake Doll, you know the rubber dolls that smelt of perfume and turned inside out. Draw your own comparison...

These were my two favourite dresses of the collection...actually the only two. Sorry John.

A NOTE TO THE EDITORS...

So after much deliberation I decided to get my bum into gear and develop a creative CV to send out to publishers and magazine editors across the country, in the vain hope of someone noticing my words of wisdom. What better way to get myself noticed than to create a magazine with all my interests, achievements, passions, qualifications etc in. Sooo much better than sending out a two page A4 CV, that will no doubt sit on a pile of lookilikey CV's, from writers demanding the attention of an editor. I've decided to go right to the top as well and send it not just to the editors PA, but the editors themselves. What do I have to loose other than pride when I hear nothing back. Positive thinking Vickie, positive thinking.
Here is the front page, which I took great delight in designing this afternoon. Although the images were taken from fashionising.com, the logo is designed by yours truly. All images are of course credited.
I'd love for you to let me know what you think. I wanted to create a Luella/V/i.D style magazine called FASHIONATION simply because I'm fasinated with fashion. I obviously intend to keep this blog the same but I will keep updating you with my progress and you can give me your comments and feedback. I'll pop a tab on the side so I can keep it all organised for you. I'm nice like that.

ICONIC PHOTOGRAPHS FROM CANNES

The photographs from last nights red carpet flooded in last night and there were no big moments. The only stars I spotted were Cate Blanchett, who looked rather elegant in Alexander McQueen, and Kate Beckinsale in Marchesa, which was more beauty paegent than red carpet. So instead of reporting the usual blah blah blah of who was wearing what designer, I thought I would look back at some of the more iconic pictures from the Cannes Film Festival, which is now in it's 63rd year. Like Brigitte Bardot in her corset all in one and Grace Kelly in some amazing heavily embellished high-waisted trousers. My favourite image I think has to be Kate Moss with Johnny Depp. These two together were like a romantic magic. Then she met Pete and he met Vanessa and the magic ended.

WISH LIST - AN OVERSIZED GOLD MICHAEL KORS WATCH

I'm obsessed with all things male at the minute and yes that does include the latest M&S advert featuring Danni Minogues current squeeze, Kris Smith topless. His torso makes my bus journey home a hell of a lot more pleasant. But more importantly, male clothing and accessories are the topic of my inspiration this month. To work with my boyfriend blazer and of course, oversized male tee for bedtime, I thought what better time than to invest in a mans watch, preferably a gold Michael Kors design. This watch has been snapped on Ashley Olsen and on a lot of the girls over at ELLE head quarters (more about the ELLE girls in tomorrows post). Michael Kors is a wizard on the runway and I especially liked his 2010 spring/summer collection with cut-out, one shoulder dresses in an array of pastel blues and classic white. I think this watch has to be an investment piece and will look on-trend with smart tailoring or Alexander Wang sports-luxe inspired pieces. This season is all about unisex styling and this watch falls into this category perfectly.

A NIGHT ON HORRIFIC DRESS STREET

I actually didn't know whether to write this post but then I thought sod it, if it shows us Brits to be truly horrific dressers then so be it. The British Soap Awards are always a mix of perma-tans, false boobies and backcombed hair but this year dressing awfully actually reached a new level. I can't even spot a designer between them, although I did spot a Dolce and Gabbana thrown in for good measure. Just because it's designer girls, does not make it a wise choice. I can't honestly describe the level of horrificness (if that can be used as an adjective), The eyelashes on some of the girls could have knocked down a unsuspecting paparazzi. If you can't bring yourself to comment then please don't feel bad, it's taking me all my strength to post the pictures.

WHATS NEXT?

Lately I've been at a complete standstill as to what I want to do with my life. Obviously I love writing, but 3 million other girls love to write as well and with a whole load of fresh graduates ready to pounce on the job market I've started to feel panicky that I'm not at the place I need to be at, career wise. I've interned all over and continue to do so, working in vain to show that I'm hard working, creative and almost worthy of working at their publication. I'll be honest, sometimes I have to stop myself bordering on desperation, there's nothing more off putting to an employer than me wrapped around their leg, screaming 'pleeeaaassseeee, I'll do it for free just give me a pen and I'll let go.'

I work freelance at the moment, writing for various small publications and websites and people seem to actually enjoy what I write, although the majority of the audience is mainly family and friends and they are pretty much obliged to enjoy the words. The only way to get myself noticed is to continue to intern. Believe me girls and boys, it's not all like The Hills and Running in Heels, interning can be mundane, tedious and sometimes downright unbelievable. One summer I interned at a pretty well know magazine whose stylist had been a little slap dash with her four berry snack and spilt it all over a extremely expensive sample we'd been lent. I was quickly sent to the toilets to clean the stain, carefully dry in the hand dryer and return as new!

When I heard Teen Vogue were bringing out a handbook on how to get into the world of fashion I got a little bit excited, although strictly speaking I haven't been a teen for over 6 years now, reserve your judgment please, I'm desperate here. Anyway Ami Astley was on The Hills numerous times and always came off as a pretty good boss to work for. Tough but not the sort of Anna Wintour tough that makes you wish you were the pigeon currently staring through the window. See what she has to say about the book and interning, maybe Vogue will call and I'll start living the dream..until then I've always got you guys.

SCARLETTS BEST COVER YET

I have a few favourite Scarlett Johansson magazine covers including W magazine, Vogue and Bazzar. Scarlett for me captures everything that a woman should be, ample boobs and bum encased in a package so ultterlly delicious she makes men melt. Her new V magazine shoot with Bridget Bradot esque volumised hair shows Scarlett at her natural best. I love her Yves St Laurent strawberry print top, the styling has a spanish vibe with the off the shoulder top and hoop earrings, reminisent of the Victoria Beckham Vogue cover. V magazines always catches my eye first on the newstand, even when placed next to the bible that is Vogue. Which is your favourite Scarlett cover?

YOU ARE MY STYLE INSPIRATION

I love the feeling of coming across a style you not only love and are completely inspired by, but one that you can actually emulate. I don't set out to to be a copycat, that's not what I'm about. But if I see something inspiring or that looks fabulous in a way I would have never thought or tried then why not steal a little incentive to go shopping. Nicole W from Sydney is featured on Lookbook.nu's top list a lot! I love her bowler hat and geek glasses. I think my first ever Look of the Week featured a similar look, but its so quintessentially British that I had to add the look again. I also adore her turquoise blazer, although I think with my colouring it would make me look like a Thomson's travel rep. In this section Nicole has not one, not two but three gorgeous blazers..how gorgeous are her leopard print calottes with a navy and gold buttoned version? Now that's an idea I may have to borrow...

STYLE OVERLOAD OR QUIRKY AT IT'S BEST

Patricia Field looks like an absolute nut job if I'm honest, and although the red hair and large collection of hats doesn't necessarily scream class and sophistication and I have never seen the work of a stylist coveted so widely across the globe. Carrie Bradshaw and her nameplate necklaces, fur coats and corsages are all the work of Patricia Field and when I came across these photographs of her apartment in NYC I wanted to share them with I Heart Fashion readers. Can you spot to paper-mache heads on the bathroom side or the tiled and cushions getaway when styling becomes too much and a little relaxation is called for. Although I think her style is a little out there, I couldn't have imagined a better setting for the red head. Look at all the fabulous colours in her kitchen glass tiled backdrop and the double baths set in to the ground. What do you think, is this style overload or quirky at its best?
