NEW STYLE CRUSH - DIANA VICKERS

For those readers outside the UK, Diana Vickers is a singer who found fame on the reality television series The X Factor with pop mogul Simon Cowell. She was featured on the year Alexandra Burke won, but went her own way musically and performed on the west end to critical acclaim for her role in 'Little Voice'. She has since launched her debut album and her two singles have both reached high in the charts. One thing that has stood out is her emerging fashion sense. Diana has been snapped at various events this summer, each time looking fabulous.  I love her bohemian style hair, Sienna Miller inspired I'm being led to believe, and her obvious love for any garment with an Aztec print. These are just a few of my favourite looks but I definitely think this one is a face to watch. I've officially put Diana Vickers on my fashion radar.

ALEXA AND KATE AT MULBERRY LA POOL PARTY

Mulberry's creative director Emma Hill held a fabulous pool party in LA last night with Alexa Chung, Kate Bosworth and Cat Deeley in attendance. Alexa was clinging on to her namesake bag, wearing a stunning nude satin shirt tucked into denim cut offs, with a sneaky hint of her black bra, the perfect effortless LA style. Alexa seems to fit perfectly into what ever style city she is living in. She has that unique London vibe, which is quickly replaced by down town New York hipness finished off with laid back LA glamour.

Kate Bosworth, as usual looked fab with a simple print tee tucked into skinnies. Her leopard print bag is of course Mulberry and really added a certain je ne sais quoi to the ensemble. I see Kate is already sporting point heels, a style which is set to become huge throughout this coming season. Who do you think was the better dressed out of the two? For me it has to be Alexa but that's just me being a proud, slightly bias Brit!

BIG BOOBOO FROM TOP MAGS

Three of the biggest magazines in fashion have all released their August Issue featuring the Miu Miu resort collection dress in shades of lilac and canary yellow. W magazine were the first to print to dress on the front cover with Eva Mendes, shown here in a previous post. I then got my collectors edition of Elle magazine and what do I spot but the Miu Miu dress again, this time in lilac and modelled on the gorgeous Lily Allen. I figured because the dresses were sperate colours no one would notice but then Vogue came our and there sat on the front page is Freja Beha in the yellow Miu Miu dress again! I can totally see why the mags would go for this dress, it was one of my favourite pieces from the runway show and the detailed embellished neckline looks fabulous, especially on the front of W magazine.

Editor of Elle, Lorainne Candy released this statement on the boo-boo saying: "We first see the look on the runway and note it down as a possible for a cover shoot. When we're back in the office, we call it in and match it to the right star. Contrary to popular belief, we don’t shoot covers in sequence. If it fits the mood board concept of the cover shoot and the photographer likes it, we take it to the shoot along with a rail of potential clothes."
"But that's only half the battle. If the celebrity doesn't feel the same love for the look as the Fashion Director we have to go with the flow. They always have an “I love it’ or "I hate it" moment. Lily loved it so much she wanted to take it home.
"When we saw this Miu Miu dress on the runway in Paris we knew we had to have it for a cover this year and August, the first new season cover, seemed the perfect fit. It ticks all the boxes for an ELLE cover; it’s feminine and sexy but modern too. I love a playful element on a cover as it appeals to the ELLE reader who doesn't take herself so seriously. A cover dress should inspire you with the mood of the month and this one does."

ERIN WASSON ILLUSTRATED

I heart anything to do with Erin Wasson, I think I even put her at number 5 in my Top 10 Best Dressed list earlier this year. But when I came across these images from the RVCA + Erin Wasson look book it combined my two loves, Erin and illustration. See how the illustration stands out from the Terry Richardson inspired white backdrop. Erin as usual looks flawless but the only problem is, the burst of colour on the contrasting white background totally distracted my fashion eye and I didn't even take notice of the garments themselves. What do you think? Are you a fan of Erins or do you think she takes grunge-chic too far?
